In July 2020, Psychosocial Recovery Coaching was introduced to the NDIS as a funded service.
This game changing move means recovery coaching is available to all NDIS participants whose primary diagnosis is a psychosocial condition.
A good recovery coach:
- Is knowledgeable and considerate and recognises the effects of mental health conditions and how they impact many aspects of a person’s life.
- Can find solutions where there are barriers economically, socially and can support goal setting and practical implementation of a recovery plan.
- Will encourage participants without taking away from their independence.
- Offer great communication, adaptability and can clearly demonstrate understanding and empathy.
