Those with lived experience bring unique knowledge, abilities and attributes to the support they offer. Drawing from their own life-changing experience, service encounters and recovery journey, to support, inspired and motivate others.
Their unique understanding of how crucial connection is, and their ability use their experience and expertise to inspire others to hope is something that can’t be taught – it must be lived. Relationships are built on a collective understanding of shared experience, self-determination, and empowerment.
The sharing of personal experience to support other people to identify their aspirations, make decisions for themselves, exercise choice and assume greater control of their lives is a credit to each individual offering this service to others.
If you have sought support and are yet to find the right fit, consider choosing a support system with lived experience.
